Equipment notes

The CT62 was created jointly by Jake Hu, who leads the New Taipei specialty roastery Taster's Coffee, and designer Jeff Dayu Shi of DragonFly Design Centre. Its name comes from two defining elements: an outer wall textured after Tang-era Shanwen armor, and a 62-degree internal angle chosen so that V60 conical paper filters sit flush against the wall with no extra shaping. Instead of raised ribs, the inner wall carries 24 recessed grooves. Twelve long grooves run the full height to keep an air path between paper and wall, twelve short grooves in the middle section sustain the flow as the water level drops, and a circular groove at the base relieves the pressure squeezing the filter. The result is a steady, even flow that holds back over-extracted bitterness, and hands-on reviews note a drawdown slightly quicker than a V60. Made of new bone china and sized for one to two cups, it accepts both center pours and wide circular pours without demanding a narrow technique. Because the flow runs on the quick side, grinding a touch finer helps restore balance. It is a dripper for those who want to keep using their V60 filters while gaining a steadier, more uniform extraction and a piece of craft on the counter.
