SIMPLIFY the Brewer is the first original product from BATHTUB COFFEE, a Japanese coffee equipment importer led by Ryo Ito. It began with a simple idea: brew good coffee as easily as possible, without a bloom. Ito taught himself CAD and spent about a year and a half refining prototypes before launching the brewer on Kickstarter in 2021. Inside the cylindrical Tritan body, a flat-bottom Kalita Wave 185 filter rests on six small floor protrusions, with an air gap keeping it off the wall to minimize contact. The bottom is essentially wide open, so the dripper itself never restricts flow; drawdown speed is set by the grind. That is why this brewer is paired with a fine grind, where fine particles hold back the fast exit and restore balance. There is only one technique. No bloom, no circles: pour all the water straight into the center in one continuous stream, wait for it to drain, and the cup is done within about two minutes. With hand-technique variables removed, brews come out even from cup to cup, and reviewers repeatedly note sweetness and a clean finish. This is a brewer for anyone who wants a repeatable daily cup without pouring practice, and for mornings too busy to give up pour over.
