Equipment notes

The Clever Dripper is an immersion brewer from Taiwan, sold under the Abid brand, short for Absolutely Best Idea Development. The name carries the whole design intent: fold the cleanliness of a paper-filtered pour-over and the ease of steeping into one device that asks for no special tools or hand skills. Everything hinges on the shut-off valve in the base. While the brewer sits on the counter the valve stays closed, so coffee and water steep fully submerged inside the paper filter; the moment you set it on a cup or server, the valve is pressed open and the brew drains through. You control the entire steep on your own clock, yet because the coffee passes through paper on the way down, the cup comes out clear with very little sediment. Using it amounts to adding coffee and water, waiting, and setting it on a cup, so no pouring technique or gooseneck kettle is needed. With flavor effectively reduced to steep time and grind size, results tend to repeat well from day to day, and a widely used water-first variation, adding grounds after the water, speeds up the drawdown further. It is a dripper for beginners who want clean, reliable coffee without hand skills, and for anyone who wants the same cup every morning.
