Graycano was founded in Leipzig, Germany in 2020 by Felix Brügmann. Cast aluminum was chosen over ceramic or glass because the metal absorbs heat quickly, helping keep the temperature stable throughout the brew, while a food-safe coating on the coffee-contact surfaces keeps the metal from affecting the taste and stops coffee oils from sticking. The dripper is paired with a handmade cork sleeve. The inner wall carries short, scattered V-shaped bumps the brand calls Lava Ribs. Rather than forming continuous ridges, they are designed to guide water evenly through the coffee bed and to break up air and water channels before they form. Air pockets capture heat and steam rising from the brewed coffee below to help keep the coffee bed's temperature stable, and the maker says the structure supports an even extraction with brighter, sweeter notes. The dedicated GC01 filter is recommended, and standard size 1 cone filters, such as V60 size 01, also fit. Preheating the dripper and pre-wetting the filter help it reach thermal stability, and a calm, deliberate pour suits its design. It is a dripper for someone who wants the consistency that temperature stability brings, and a durable tool to keep at their side for years.
