Equipment notes
KINTO is a lifestyle goods brand that started as a tableware wholesaler in Shiga Prefecture, Japan in 1972 and went on to develop its own products. Slow Coffee Style is a series born from the philosophy of savoring the unhurried time of brewing coffee by hand, and the SCS-04-BR is the four-cup version of its brewer. Like the 2-cup version, it has a porcelain body made in Japan, gentle ribs running straight down the wall in place of a spiral, and a single, relatively wide outlet at the bottom. Paired with the dedicated cotton paper filter, it is designed for an even, unhurried drawdown, and with the larger bed, the fundamentals of distributing water evenly matter more for a uniform cup. Thanks to porcelain's heat retention, a preheat helps keep the temperature stable even at multi-cup volumes. It sits directly on a server, and it is made to work with the dedicated 4-cup cotton paper filters or the dedicated 4-cup stainless steel filter. It pairs well with a slow, steady pour. This is a brewer for anyone who wants to enjoy drip time at home without hurry, coffee to share included.
