Equipment notes

This is the four-cup size of the commemorative series KONO introduced around its 90th anniversary in 2015. It keeps the lower-rib conical design the Meimon established in 1973 and the crack-resistant clear PCT resin body, scaled up so several cups can be brewed in one session. The structure works the same way: the wet filter clings to the smooth upper wall to form a semi-sealed chamber, and the steeped coffee drains from the bottom. The short ribs slow the drawdown just as on the small size, but the larger chamber holds a deeper coffee bed, so water and grounds stay in contact noticeably longer. At the same grind, it tends to brew stronger than the one-to-two-cup model. For multiple cups, steady circular pours suit it better than strict point-drip precision, and grinding slightly coarser balances out the longer contact time. This is a dripper for anyone who wants to serve several reliably heavy, nel-style cups at once for family or guests.
