Equipment notes

This is the one-to-two-cup size of the commemorative model KONO added to the Meimon line around its 90th anniversary in 2015. It carries over the lower-rib conical design the Meimon established in 1973, while swapping acrylic for a crack-resistant PCT resin body that keeps daily use worry-free. The grammar of the shape is the same as the original: on the rib-free upper wall the wet filter clings to the dripper, forming a semi-sealed chamber where the coffee steeps before draining from the bottom. The ribs, however, are shorter than the Meimon's, so drawdown is slower and the dripper itself takes over much of the flow control. Even with an unsteady pour, the full, nel-style body comes out reliably. Point-drip brewing brings out its character best, but it does not demand the original's precision; a slow, simple pour still lands close. The unhurried drawdown pairs especially well with medium-dark to dark roasts. This is a dripper for newcomers who want KONO's dense body without a long apprenticeship.
