Equipment notes

little flower coffee, a specialty roastery on a shopping street in Seto, Aichi, a Japanese town synonymous with ceramics, created what is presented as the world's first Seto ware coffee dripper together with local artisans. Owner-barista Honda was personally involved from concept through design and development, and the name comes from tsukumogami, spirits said in Japanese folklore to dwell in tools that have been cherished for a long time. The inner wall carries no traditional ribs. Instead, the wall angle is tuned so the paper filter sits flush against it, while five claw-like feet at the base gently support the tip of the filter and open channels for air to pass. The bottom is left wide open as a single large drain hole, so the dripper itself barely restricts flow; drainage stays smooth, extraction speed remains stable, and harshness from over-steeping is kept in check. It accepts both cone-shaped paper filters and Kalita Wave 155 filters, letting you switch brewing styles to suit the beans or the day. Preheat the reinforced porcelain body before brewing, and take advantage of the fast drawdown with short recipes that finish inside two minutes. This is a dripper for brewers who want fast, clean extraction and the quiet beauty of a crafted object in equal measure.
