Cupcake is a flat-bottom dripper from the coffee equipment brand minos. It takes its name from the cupcake-tin shape of its wave filter, and its transparent Tritan body is light and lets you watch the brew as it draws down. Released in a range of retro-inspired colors, it has been gaining recognition mainly across specialty coffee scenes in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and neighboring Asian markets. The flat bed slightly slows drawdown so the coffee bed and filter stay in even contact, while twenty alternating high and low ribs support the paper and keep paths open for water and air along the wall. According to the maker, the base rises slightly at the center with drainage channels recessed around it, so water exits steadily along the outer edge of the base instead of dropping straight through a center hole. It is compatible with Kalita 155-size wave filters, and the brand also offers a dedicated cupcake filter. Because the gentle flow is forgiving of pouring technique, it reliably produces smooth, balanced cups with good sweetness, making it a good fit for pour-over beginners and anyone who wants the same cup every day.
