The Philos is a 64mm flat steel-burr electric single-dosing grinder from Mazzer, which has built grinders in Venice, Italy since 1948. It was engineered for near-zero retention from the start, uses notch-based stepped adjustment, and carries a commercial-grade build. You choose the burr set up front: the I200D for brightness and clarity in lighter roasts, or the I189D for traditional espresso with chocolate and nut character. Flat burrs tend to narrow the particle distribution, raising uniformity and clarity, and the 64mm size adds batch consistency and throughput. Notch adjustment makes it easy to return to a repeatable setting, with fine correction available for unforced dial-in. Designed around a 58mm portafilter, it centres on espresso while still reaching into filter territory.
