Equipment notes
CAFEC is the coffee equipment brand of Sanyo Sangyo, a Japanese filter manufacturer founded in 1973 and credited with developing the world's first cone-shaped paper filter. The Flower Dripper Oval brings the petal-shaped ribs of the conical Flower Dripper into a trapezoid format; launched in late 2024, it completed the Flower series. The body is BPA-free Tritan. The petal ribs that let the grounds expand and the straight base ribs that guide liquid to the outlet work exactly as on the 101. The 102 size serves two to four cups through two bottom holes: a larger dose builds a thicker bed where water tends to linger, so the twin outlets keep drainage comparatively brisk and prevent unpleasant, over-extracted flavors. Use CAFEC's trapezoid paper filters in size 102 (Abaca or Abaca+). The Tritan body is light and needs little preheating; divide the water into several steady pours to match the larger dose. It is a dripper for the brewer who wants the Flower series' mellow cup scaled up to serve two or three people at once.
