Equipment notes

Holzklotz is a Korean coffee equipment brand based in Paju, Gyeonggi-do, built around the idea that the charm of hand drip lies less in the taste than in the brief moment of calm it offers; alongside drippers it also makes drip stands and hand grinders. The name A27 comes from the twenty-seven A-shaped ribs standing along the inner wall, and the brand says development focused on refining that rib shape until it produced the right extraction speed. The closely spaced A-shaped ribs lift the paper filter off the wall and open even drainage channels, which settles the brew into a medium flow that is neither rushed nor sluggish. Although it is a ceramic piece shaped from clay and kiln-fired twice, its walls are relatively thin, so it is said to preheat faster and lose less heat during the brew than thick conventional ceramic drippers. Warm the dripper before use, seat a Hario V60 size 01 cone filter, and pour: reviewers describe a balanced cup where gentle sweetness comes forward rather than sharp acidity, with a moderate, textured body. It tends to brew stably without demanding complicated technique, making it a dripper for anyone who wants calm, balanced everyday pour over from a Korean-made ceramic cone.
