Loveramics Mellow

Equipment notes

The Mellow is one of three drippers in the Brewers series by Loveramics, a Hong Kong tableware brand with long-standing ties to the specialty coffee scene. Developed with ceramic designer Simon Stevens, the series shares a single porcelain cone shape across three models, each carrying a different embossment pattern to set a different flow rate. The Mellow is the fastest of the trio and comes in celadon blue as its signature color. Inside the cone, the ribs are shaped like fish scales, wide at the top and tapering toward the bottom. These raised scales hold the paper filter off the wall and guide water downward, giving the Mellow the quickest drawdown of the three. The shorter contact time keeps extraction in check, producing a lighter cup where bright acidity, aroma and clarity come forward. It takes standard 02-size conical paper filters, the same as a Hario V60-02. The thick porcelain body holds heat well but warms up slowly, so rinse it thoroughly with hot water before brewing. To balance the fast drainage, grind slightly finer than usual or split the water into several pours. This is a dripper for those who want bright, vivid flavors rendered with clean definition.
