Equipment notes

Femobook is a Taiwanese brand launched in 2022 that focuses on compact, battery driven electric grinders. The A5 sits at the top of that cordless line, and its larger conical burr is what separates it from the models below, covering espresso as well as filter from a single machine. A plug-in version is also sold separately. The burr is a heptagonal stainless conical set, and adjustment is a fine stepped click system with one hundred clicks per rotation. Because the usable range spans nearly three rotations, the distance between espresso and pour over is long, so writing settings down pays off. The motor turns slowly, which keeps heat low but makes espresso grinding take a while. Replaceable batteries, USB-C charging and tool-free disassembly round it out. Being a conical, it is not the lowest fines producer, yet the slow drive holds frictional heat and fines back, so the cup reads defined rather than muddy. Reviews describe bright, clean acidity with less weight on dark roasts. For pour over, start in the range the maker suggests and narrow in while watching the drawdown. It fits someone who wants to grind without a power outlet and still cover espresso with one machine.
