Equipment notes

The Epic Grande is a manual hand grinder from the Korean brand Holzklotz. The brand name comes from German (a block of wood), but the maker is a Korean company based in Paju, Gyeonggi-do, and this appears to be the higher-capacity model of the Epic line. It carries a conical stainless burr with click-stepped grind adjustment. The exact burr size is not confirmed in public sources. Conical burrs tend to create a fines-inclusive, body-forward particle distribution, and click-stepped adjustment is repeatable and easy to return to. However, with burr size unconfirmed the absolute level of throughput and uniformity cannot be stated, and by coverage it is used mainly for filter brewing such as pour-over and immersion. Being stepped rather than stepless, its strength is repeatability in the filter range rather than the extremely fine tuning of espresso. It suits home brewers who prefer a domestic Korean hand mill and want repeatable settings centered on pour-over.
