Equipment notes
The K5 is a manual (hand) grinder from the Taiwanese brand KINGrinder. It uses a stainless-steel conical burr with the brand's signature seven-edged (heptagonal) geometry, which adds cutting contact points to improve uniformity, positioned as a mid-size model. Adjustment is by numbered click steps, making settings easy to reproduce by hand. A conical burr tends to pass some fines and build body, while the relatively generous burr size for a hand mill aids cutting efficiency and setting stability. Its adjustment span reaches from fine espresso down to coarse French press, giving it an all-round character that covers many brew methods with one grinder. Being stepped rather than stepless, it is less finely divisible but moves in fixed increments per click, so repeatability is good. It suits home users who want to try everything from pour-over to espresso at a reasonable price, and those who need power-free grinding while traveling or outdoors.
