The M47 Phoenix is a manual hand grinder from the German brand Kinu, one branch of the espresso-capable M47 line. It carries 47mm conical stainless burrs (hardened coating) with stepless grind adjustment. It shares the same burrs and stepless mechanism as the Classic, so grind quality itself is similar; the Phoenix is a variant that replaces some steel with ABS to reduce weight and increase capacity. It is more accurate to see it as a derivative focused on lighter weight and larger capacity than as a higher-performance generation. Conical burrs tend to fines and body, but the mid-large 47mm diameter and hardened-coated burrs offer better throughput and consistency than small conicals. Stepless adjustment sets values continuously without clicks, a strong advantage in a fine band such as espresso. It covers broadly from espresso to filter. It suits users who take espresso seriously on a single manual mill while also enjoying filter, and home baristas who want a relatively light body and generous capacity.
