Equipment notes
The Porlex Mini II is the compact manual grinder from Porlex, the Japanese ceramics maker founded in Osaka in 1978, and it is the revised generation of the original Mini. It keeps the same core of a low-static stainless steel body, a conical ceramic burr, and clicked stepped adjustment, but its key change is stabilizing the outer burr with notches to remove play and tightening the adjustment into smaller, firmer steps. It is made in Japan. The ceramic burr resists heat and will not rust, and the conical geometry adds body. Fines at fine settings remain a ceramic trait, but the stabilized outer burr narrows particle spread versus the original, and the clicks are distinct with no slack, allowing far more repeatable dial-in. Throughput per turn also rises, easing the effort of hand grinding. Centered on AeroPress and pour-over, its improved adjustment makes the espresso range more approachable. It fits users who found the original's play frustrating and those who want steadier adjustment while keeping a small travel footprint.
