The Ode Gen 1 is Fellow's first electric grinder, from the San Francisco brand. It is a brew-only model with 64mm stainless steel flat burrs, the original Ode that Fellow released with a focus on filter coffee. It established a tidy desktop design with single-dose loading, stepped setting adjustment, a slim body, and a magnetic catch cup. A redesigned second-generation burr set was later sold separately, so Gen 1 owners can raise performance by swapping burrs. Large flat burrs gather particles into a narrow distribution, giving high uniformity and a clear outline of aroma and acidity in the filter cup. The generous burr area helps grinding speed and limits heat. The motor and burr setup are tuned for drip and immersion, so it does not handle the espresso range. Stepped adjustment offers good repeatability across filter settings. It is a brew-only grinder suited to home brewers centered on pour-over, French press, and cold brew who want uniform filter grinds.
