Equipment notes
Fellow is the American brand behind the Stagg kettle and the Ode grinder, and the Opus 2 is the second generation of its all-purpose electric that covers espresso through French press on one machine. It keeps the first generation's frame and adds a built-in ionizer and a 300 W motor to cut static, clumping and mess. At 2.3 kg it is home-sized. The burr is a 48 mm conical steel set, adjusted by turning a ring numbered 0 to 10 in a stepless action, with sub-ticks that give 48 usable settings. A brew guide printed on the hopper lid makes a starting point easy to find, and the lidded load bin suits single dosing. Retention is about 0.3 g. Particle measurements suggest the grind barely changes across one part of the range, and true espresso tends to sit finer than the lid guide suggests. Being a conical it carries fines, so body and sweetness lead; for pour over, start from the lid guide and adjust by watching the drawdown. It fits beginners and home users who want one grinder for several brew methods.
