The Opus is an all-purpose electric grinder from Fellow of San Francisco, USA. Its core strength is 40mm stainless steel conical burrs that span a wide range, from cold-brew coarse to espresso fine. It has a compact desktop setup with single-dose loading, stepped setting adjustment, low retention, and a magnetic catch cup. Conical burrs tend to handle a broad grind range easily while producing a cup with body. The 40mm burrs and a torquey motor take everything from coarse grinds to espresso fines in stride. Stepped adjustment makes it easy to reproduce settings while moving between brew methods. On uniformity, fines may run a little higher than a large dedicated flat grinder, but its strength is the flexibility to cover many brews in one machine. It suits entry-level and intermediate home brewers who move between espresso and filter, or who want a single grinder to handle a variety of brews.
