The EK43 S is part of Mahlkönig's EK43 family of large-format flat grinders, built in Germany. It runs the same 98 mm flat steel burrs as the standard EK43 but in a shorter body that fits under cabinets, with a larger hopper aimed at cafe use, driven by a motor with stepless adjustment. Large 98 mm flat burrs tend to concentrate particle sizes, so uniformity and clarity lead the profile. The EK43 S grinds more slowly than the taller EK43, which lowers heat and popcorning and makes dispensing and dialing in easier, while still spanning espresso through filter in one machine. Dial-based stepless adjustment lets you move through fineness continuously. It suits cafes moving across many beans and brew methods, and specialty home baristas who prioritize filter clarity.
