Equipment notes
A porcelain cone dripper that Origami developed with Leaves Coffee Roasters of Kuramae, Tokyo, released in spring 2026. It was built around one goal: a short, clean extraction that anyone can repeat, shaped jointly by the roastery and the manufacturer from the design stage. The narrow 55-degree cone shrinks the coffee bed so water saturates it evenly with less lag, while the wide, roughly 28mm outlet and ten fan-shaped ribs open air channels that speed the flow and resist clogging. The brew is designed around a drawdown of about 1 minute 30 seconds, and the deliberately thick porcelain body absorbs heat gently early in the brew, then slows the temperature drop late to keep the extraction environment stable. To match the fast drainage, grind about one step coarser than a usual V60 setting and pour briskly, since hesitant streams let the bed compact and stall. It takes V60-size cone paper filters, and the bundled jig sets the filter angle in place. This is a dripper for people who want a bright, clean cup they can repeat without technique-heavy routines, especially those drawing out the aroma and acidity of lighter roasts.
