Equipment notes

The Hario Skerton Plus is a ceramic hand grinder that refines the first-generation Skerton. It keeps the conical ceramic burr but adds a stabilizing plate that steadies the upper burr and reduces wobble while grinding, and reshapes the hopper to limit beans bouncing out. It retains a generous lower jar, so it can handle several cups at once. Thanks to the stabilizing plate, the particle variation that weakened the original Skerton is eased, improving uniformity even with the same ceramic burr. Grind size is set by a continuous, stepless adjustment below the burr, so it moves finely without catching between stops, covering coarse French press through medium pour-over in practice. Because it is stepless with no marked scale, repeatable settings need your own reference point. It suits users bothered by the first generation's wobble and those who move between French press and pour-over while wanting ample capacity.
