The Hario Smart-G is Hario's ultra-compact ceramic hand grinder, a portability-first model with a thin, light body and a handle that stows against it with a silicone band. It uses a conical ceramic burr and is built around a small dose, so it is easy to carry in a bag and grind on demand. With a separately sold electric attachment it can also be driven electrically. The conical ceramic burr runs cool and resists wear, but as a small-diameter ceramic burr its uniformity is lower than high-end steel and fines rise relatively. Grind size is set by turning the adjustment nut below the burr in steps, centered on medium pour-over and reaching coarser French press ranges in practice. The thin body makes it light to hold but tiring for large single batches. It suits users who grind one or two cups while traveling, and pour-over drinkers who prioritize portability in the smallest possible package.
