Baratza Sette 270

The Sette 270 is an electric grinder from the US brand Baratza (acquired by Breville in 2020). It uses a stainless-steel conical burr, but its defining trait is that the outer burr rotates rather than the inner one, with beans dropping straight down through the burrs. This design leaves very little retention inside the machine. The straight-through path and very low retention are especially favorable for single-dosing, so changing beans leaves almost no carryover of previous grounds. The 40mm conical burr grinds fast and is strongest in the fine, espresso-centric range, while stepped settings also reach into filter. A split macro and micro adjustment helps dial in espresso finely. It suits home espresso drinkers who switch beans often and single-dose, and anyone who wants fast grinding with no waste.
