The Sette 270 W is an espresso-oriented electric grinder from Baratza, a US grinder specialist founded in 1999 and acquired by Australia's Breville Group in 2020. Within the Sette line it is the weight-focused version, carrying a built-in scale based on acaia weighing technology so it doses by weight rather than time, straight into a portafilter or container. It uses steel conical burrs but with an unusual layout: the outer ring burr rotates while the inner cone stays fixed, so grounds fall vertically in a straight-through path and almost nothing is retained inside the machine. The body-forward particle character of a conical burr is paired with combined macro and micro stepped adjustment, making it easy to repeat the same setting from espresso through to filter. It suits home baristas who want to control dose by weight rather than time, and espresso drinkers who value low retention and repeatable dial-in without wasting beans.
