Comandante C40 MK3

The Comandante C40 MK3 is the generation that first carried the Nitro Blade burr in 2015, hand-built in Germany. Its 39 mm conical steel burr is made from high-nitrogen martensitic stainless steel with strong hardness and edge retention, and the handle is Black Forest oak. It shares the burr concept with the later MK4, but the MK3 has a small hole in the central axle where beans can lodge and wider bearing and axle tolerances, an earlier design that can develop slightly more axle play over long use. The conical geometry leans toward body, and the Nitro Blade's sharp cut covers filter through French press. Stepped clicks make settings easy to repeat. Compared with the MK4 the looser axle alignment can show a small difference in pour-over clarity, but real-world quality remains high. It suits pour-over and all-round users who already own an MK3 or prefer the proven classic generation.
