The Timemore (China) S3 is a manual hand grinder and the upper, precision model of the Chestnut line. It sets larger 42mm conical stainless burrs (S2C890) in a full-metal unibody, and the decisive difference is adjustment. Where the C series uses an internal base nut, the S3 places a precision adjustment dial (ring) on the outside of the body, letting you fine-tune against visible markings without disassembly. The larger burr helps throughput and cutting stability, and the S2C geometry spikes then cuts to reduce fines and boulders for good uniformity for a conical. The external dial changes very finely per click, giving higher setting resolution than the C series, and is especially strong for filter. Espresso is technically possible but the usable band is narrow and dialing in is finicky, so serious espresso is left to the separate ESP line. It suits serious pour-over and all-round users who want precise external control and a larger burr for finely managing filter brews.
