Hario created this Taiwan-only edition of the Switch together with Lin's Ceramics Studio, the Taiwanese pottery house founded in 1983, and its coffee-ware brand Aurli. In place of glass, the body is formed from Purion (Lao Yan Ni), the studio's proprietary blend of local Taiwanese rock minerals and clay fired repeatedly through high-temperature oxidation and reduction, leaving a coarse, mineral surface that faintly carries the maker's hand. The brewing architecture is pure Switch: the V60 cone and spiral ribs sit above a stainless ball valve, so an open valve gives fast percolation and a closed valve gives a full immersion steep. What changes is thermal behavior. Purion's porous, granular body moves heat slowly, and once preheated it lets the steep cool far more gently than glass; local reviewers credit it with a rounder, sweeter, more balanced cup. In use it asks for one habit: preheat generously, because the same thermal mass that steadies a steep will steal heat from it if the dripper starts cold. From there, steep with the valve closed, or start open and close it late in the brew. It suits the immersion-minded brewer who wants the Switch's forgiving versatility wrapped in a piece of Taiwanese craft.
